Merry Monday 5th of September

Did you know?

We cannot build our own future without helping others to build theirs. (Bill Clinton)

As human beings we have a responsibility to help those who are less privileged than we are. And sadly, there are many people in need of help. Here are just a few of UNICEF’s poverty statistics:

·         Almost half the world (over three billion people) live on less than $2.50 a day

·         The poorest 40 percent of the world’s population accounts for 5 percent of global income. The richest 20 percent accounts for three-quarters of world income

·         Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names

At LRMG we are actively involved in helping the less fortunate through what we do best – increasing performance. Our main projects include:

·         The Londolozi Project: we helped build a digital literacy programme at Londolozi and have also donated courseware to this excellent learning centre which is training the community in basic computer skills. We will be focusing some PR on this organisation soon to share the great impact that it’s had on building people’s lives.

·         The Maharishi Institute: We support CIDA (Community and Individual Development Association) and have donated millions of rands worth of eLearning to their ‘virtually free’ academy. Over the past 10 years they have educated over 5000 people and we continue to support them as they make learning accessible to people who are unable to pay high tertiary institution fees.

So know that we’re making a contribution in uplifting people, in line with our values of e-mpowerment and e-ducation. Since you’re a part of this dream, we hope that you are also involved in improving lives wherever you can.

Remember those around you this week, be grateful for what you have and be generous where you can.

Cheers,
Joanne Sharpe
